Daviess County HS logoLEXINGTON, Ky. (11/2/17) — Brian Winkler scored his 20th goal of the season to lead reigning state champion Daviess County past Ryle 2-1 in double overtime in the KHSAA Boys' Soccer Semifinals at Lafayette High School on Wednesday.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 21-3-2 and will return to the state title game.

Ryle ended its season 23-3-2 with the loss.

The Panthers scored first and never trailed. Daviess County went ahead 1-0 16 minutes into the game when Kegan Settle scored.

With 22 minutes remaining in the second half, Jackson Snowden connected on a penalty kick for Ryle to tie the game.

St. Xavier blanked Warren Central 6-0 in the other match of the state semifinals.

Daviess County will face St. Xavier in the state championship game at 5 p.m. at Lafayette High School on Saturday.
