maroons helmetMADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/5/17) — Host Madisonville-North Hopkins topped Allen County-Scottsville 28-7 in the opening round of the Class 4A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Friday night.

With the win, Madisonville-North Hopkins improved to 7-4 and advances to meet Franklin-Simpson in the second round of the Class 4A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl.

With the loss, Allen County-Scottsville ended its season 7-4.

Madisonville-North Hopkins rushed for 360 yards in the postseason win.

Jariah Hightower led Madisonville-North Hopkins to the triumph, rushing 46 times for 296 yards and one touchdown.

Also delivering on the ground for the Maroons, quarterback Hayden Reynolds added a rushing touchdown of his own.

Reynolds led Madisonville-North Hopkins' aerial attack, completing six of eight passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Marquise Parker paced the Maroons in receiving, reeling in two receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.

Nathan Buntin added a 17-yard touchdown reception for the Maroons in the victory.

Defensively, Madisonville-North Hopkins limited the Allen County-Scottsville offense throughout the matchup.

James Gilbert recorded an interception for the Maroons.
