Daviess County HS logoOWENSBORO, Ky. (11/9/17) — Daviess County is headed to McCracken County for the second round of the Class 6A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl. The Panthers are slated to visit the Mustangs on Friday night.

Daviess County (6-5) defeated North Hardin 33-7 in the first round of the Class 6A State Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 3.

Quarterback Joseph Cambron leads Daviess County. In 11 games, Cambron has completed 185-of-339 passes for 3,513 yards and 46 touchdowns. In nearly 340 pass attempts, Cambron has thrown 10 interceptions.

Marquel Tinsley paces Daviess County in the receiving column. Tinsley has reeled in 61 receptions for 1,349 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Another key receiver for the Panthers is Blake Baker, who has caught 43 passes for 967 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Defensively for Daviess County, Shae Carwile has posted a team-high 159 tackles. Two Daviess County defensive players have reached triple digits as Drew Cockerell has delivered 108 tackles.

Elijah Wheat and TaeShawn Allen are a tough offensive tandem for McCracken County (7-4), which blanked Muhlenberg County 48-0 in the opening round of the Class 6A State Playtoffs. Wheat has completed 142-of-237 passes for 1,581 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing nine interceptions. Carrying the Mustangs' heaviest load on the ground, Allen has rushed 170 times for 1,165 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Kiael Waldon leads the McCracken County defense with seven interceptions.

Daviess County and McCracken County are familiar rivals. When the two teams met for a Class 6A, District 1 game on Sept. 22, McCracken County pulled away to defeat then-host Daviess County 56-40. 

Kickoff for the Daviess County-McCracken County game is set for 7 p.m. in Paducah.
