daviesscounty panthers 01 300PADUCAH, Ky. (11/12/17) — Daviess County is on its way to a region championship game. The Panthers upended host McCracken County 34-21 in the second round of the Class 6A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Friday night.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 7-5 and advances to the Class 6A, Region 1 championship game.

McCracken County ended its season 7-5 with the loss.

Landon Newman led Daviess County to the win, rushing 24 times for 277 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to his solid effort in the rushing column, Newman hauled in seven receptions for 92 yards to rank as the Panthers' top receiver.

Daviess County excelled on the ground and through the air as quarterback Joseph Cambron completed 22-of-35 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown.

Marquel Tinsley was on the receiving end of Cambron's scoring pass.

Defensively for Daviess County, Blake Baker registered a team-high 11 tackles and Tinsley recorded an interception.

Daviess County is set to visit Central Hardin for the Class 6A, Region 1 championship game on Friday, Nov. 17.
