HOPKINSVILLE, KY (1/23/12) – It is a great time to be a Murray State Racer basketball fan. With a 20-0 season so far, it is also an interesting time to work for the television crew that broadcasts some of their games. That’s exactly what members of the Racer Television Network have been doing for nearly four years.

The crew began covering a few away conference basketball games in the early days. They have since added some MSU football games to the lineup and expanded the basketball coverage. Executive Producer Steve Buttram says they started with a small van. It was used to carry the equipment which had to be unloaded and set up in a hallway at the arenas. Now the crew uses a larger production truck which serves as a mobile control room during broadcasts.

Buttram says the people on the crew have also changed over the years, “I think our crew now is probably the best that we’ve seen so far. I mean, it really is because we’ve got a lot of can-do people. The Racer Network has come so far and it’s because of the crew.”

The most recent broadcast for the Racer Television Network was on the road against Morehead State on January 18. Murray State won 66 to 60 in front of a near-capacity crowd in Johnson Arena. The Racers went on to defeat SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday 82 to 65. The Racers are currently 20-0 for the season and 8-0 in the OVC. They hold the distinction of being the only undefeated team in Division I basketball.

The next game for the Racer Television Network will be February 4 as Murray State takes on the University of Tennessee at Martin.
