KENTUCKY (2/8/14) – If you have "cabin fever" like some people and you're just wanting to get out on the water to cast your first cast of the year, your time will come soon enough.
Fishing fever always hits me about the end of January and I'm thinking about all those good spots that I caught some good fish at last year.
The time is now to get all your fishing gear cleaned up, get those reels greased and oiled up, along with organizing your tackle boxes.
Do your homework now and prepare all your gear for that first trip to the lake. Along with the preparation of your gear, your boat, motor & trailer needs some tlc if needed.
Check your hoses, check all anchor and ropes, go through your motor for replacement of spark plugs if needed, and always inspect your gas tank and gas lines.
Your Trolling motors and batteries need to be thoroughly inspected especially the connections of the wires to the batteries. Corrosion is a nightmare. Just a little check may save you a lot of trouble before you launch your boat into the water.
With the 2014 Kentucky Fishing & Boating Guide out at all license sales post in retail establishments or bait shops, you can read and scan thru each page for all rules and regulations for all species of fishing and boating rules.
Fishing Regulations are listed for each area of the state.
