MURRAY, Ky. (5/31/13) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating a second, two vehicle fatality collision that occurred on Friday, May 31, 2013 at approximately 8:50 a.m. The collision occurred on US 641 approximately 1 mile south of Murray, KY.
Ali Adams, 22 of Kirksey, KY, was operating a 2007 Dodge Caliber northbound on US 641. Perry Adams, 61 of Kirksey, KY was a passenger in her vehicle. Melanie Stockham, 59 of Murray, KY was operating a 1999 GMC pickup truck traveling southbound on US 641.
Preliminary investigation shows that Adams vehicle hydroplaned and crossed over into the southbound lane, striking Stockham head-on.
Calloway County Coroner pronounced Stockham dead at the scene. Ali Adams and Perry Adams were transported to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. Perry Adams succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. Ali was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN for her injuries.
Neither Ali nor Perry Adams was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Stockham was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Trooper Jody Cash is continuing the investigation.
KSP Collision Reconstructionist Master Trooper Chris Anderson is assisting in the reconstruction of the collision. Trooper Cash was assisted on the scene by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department, Murray Calloway County EMS, Calloway County Coroner’s Office, Murray Fire Department, Calloway County Fire Rescue, and Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
