LEXINGTON, Ky. (3/9/13) – Traffic is expected to be congested in the downtown area on Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10, for the KHSAA Boy’s Sweet 16 basketball tournament, which will be held in Rupp Arena. Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for pedestrians crossing the streets.
Traffic is expected to be congested near Rupp Arena on Saturday, March 9, when the University of Kentucky plays the University of Florida. The game starts at noon.
The 34th annual Alltech St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival in downtown Lexington on Saturday, March 16, is expected to have the following impact on traffic patterns:
• The Shamrock Shuffle will close East Vine Street to Midland Avenue to Third Street to East Main Street to intersection at West Main and South Upper Street
• The parade will close Midland from Third to Main, Main from Midland to Mill, and Upper between Main and Vine streets
The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the parade will be at 1 p.m.
One lane of Newtown Pike is shut down in each direction between West Loudon Avenue and West Fourth Street due to construction for the new BCTC campus. Inbound and outbound motorists can expect delays in the area.
A portion of New Circle Road at mile point 8.75 near the Georgetown Road exit will be closed for periods of 15 minutes every 20 to 25 minutes on Sunday, March 10, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. for overhead utility crossing work.
The Division of Engineering issued grading permits during the period February 15-24 for the following addresses: 1796 Goodpaster Way, 2477 Eastway Drive, 1376 Silver Springs Drive, 1950 Falling Leaves Lane, 1818 Falling Leaves Lane, 1709 Sandhurst Cove, Miles Point Way, 1877 Falling Leaves Lane, 425 Ohio Street, 742 Chiles Avenue and 359 East Second Street. Permits are issued for six months and can include some blasting.

MAJOR TRAFFIC IMPACT
Angliana Avenue will be CLOSED to through traffic between both ends of Curry Avenue from Monday, March 11, through Saturday, March 16, for sewer line and manhole replacement. A detour will be in place.
SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC IMPACT
A rolling lane closure will block one lane at a time of North Broadway between West Main Street and West Sixth Street through Sunday, March 10, for sewer work.
A rolling lane closure will block one lane at a time of North Martin Luther King Boulevard between West Sixth Street and West Short Street through Tuesday, March 12, for sewer work.
A rolling lane closure will block one lane at a time of North Upper Street between West Short Street and West Sixth Street through Friday, March 15, for sewer work.
A rolling lane closure will block the right southbound lane of South Broadway between West High Street and Pine Street on Tuesday, March 12, for utility work.
A rolling lane closure will block one lane at a time of South Broadway between West Maxwell Street and West Main Street from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sunday, March 10, for sewer work.
The right lane of West High Street will be blocked between Jefferson Street and Herlihy Street on Tuesday, March 12, for utility work.
The right outbound lane of West Main Street will be blocked between West Vine Street and Jefferson Street on Tuesday, March 12, for utility work.
A portion of Woodland Avenue will be blocked between East Maxwell Street and Euclid Avenue through Friday, March 29, for utility work. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
The right lane of the inner loop of Man O’ War Boulevard will be blocked between Rapid Run Drive and Armstrong Mill Road through Friday, March 15, for sidewalk replacement.
The northbound left turn lane of Pink Pigeon Parkway will be blocked at Alysheba Way from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Wednesday, March 13, to add an approach lane.
DeRoode Street will be CLOSED between Versailles Road and McKinley Street 24 hours a day through December 31, for work on the Newtown Pike extension project. Motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley.
MODERATE TRAFFIC IMPACT
One lane at a time of Ferguson Street will be blocked between Anderson Street and Jane Street through Monday, March 18, for utility work.
A portion of Clay Avenue will be blocked between East Maxwell Street and Euclid Avenue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Tuesday, March 12, for utility work. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
A portion of Marquis Avenue will be blocked between Euclid Avenue and Columbia Avenue through Tuesday, March 12, for utility work. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
One lane of Eastland Parkway will be blocked between Cantrill Court and Fort Sumter Drive through Thursday, March 15, for stream restoration work.
