Lexington Weekly Traffic Report

lane closures green 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (5/10/13)— SPECIAL NOTES: Traffic could be congested in the downtown area near Gratz Park on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, for Mayfest.

The following streets will be closed on those days:
•Third Street between Broadway and Upper streets;
•Mill and Market streets between Second and Third streets; and
•Mechanic and New streets.
Hours for Mayfest are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
 
Traffic could be congested in the downtown area near Fifth-Third Pavilion at Cheapside Park from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, for the Lexington Farmers’ Market.
 
If the weather permits, the Division of Traffic Engineering will install three-way stop signs at the intersection of McDonald Avenue and Hiltonia Park on Thursday, May 16. Motorists should use caution while traffic adjusts to the change.
 
Traffic could be congested near Fifth-Third Pavilion at Cheapside Park for Central Bank Thursday Night Live, which will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16.
 
The Division of Engineering issued grading permits during the period May 3-9 for the following addresses: 4132 Kentucky River Parkway, 408 Cunningham Lane, 2240 Spurr Road, 4660 Windstar Way, 725 Stone Road, 3977 Branham Park, 196 Somersly Place, 249 Shady Lane and 2560 Sir Barton Way. Permits are issued for six months and can include some blasting.

SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC IMPACT
Portions of the following streets will be blocked at times from Monday, May 13 through Saturday, May 18, for milling and paving:
•Asbury Lane between La Salle Road and Van Buren Drive;
•Astaire Drive at Hollow Creek Road;
•Boxwood Drive;
•Cane Run Road between North Broadway and Hawthorne Lane;
•Chestnut Street between East Sixth Street and East Seventh Street;
•DeWeese Street between East Main Street and East Short Street;
•East Loudon Avenue between Bryan Avenue and Idlewild Court;
•Effie Road between Erie Road and Bamberger Road;
•Elm Tree Lane between East Short Street and West Fourth Street;
•Emerson Drive at Meadow Lane;
•Haggard Lane between North Broadway and Radcliffe Road;
•Hollow Creek Road at Carver Road;
•La Salle Road between Hollow Creek Road and Asbury Lane;
•Lin Wal Road between Brewer Drive and North Broadway;
•Meadow Lane between Emerson Drive and East New Circle Road;
•Ohio Street between East Third Street and East Seventh Street;
•Radcliffe Road between Rye Lane and Haggard Lane;
•Shandon Drive between Parkside Drive and Burgoyne Drive;
•Silver Lane between Thurman Drive and Lin Wal Road;
•West Short Street between DeWeese Street and Elm Tree Lane;
•Warnock Street between East Second Street and East Third Street;
•Waverly Drive between Erie Road and DePorres Street;
•Withrow Way between East Third Street and Grinstead Street.
 
The middle turn lane of Euclid Avenue will be blocked between Transylvania Park and Aylesford Place 24 hours a day on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, for pavement repair.
 
The right lane of North Limestone Street will be blocked between Mechanic Street and East Third Street on Tuesday, May 14, and Wednesday, May 15, for pavement repair.
 
The inbound lane of Russell Cave Road will be blocked between Park Place and Faith Street on Wednesday, May 15, for utility work.
 
The left inbound lane of South Limestone Street will be blocked between West Maxwell Street and West High Street on Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 15, for pavement repairs.
 
One lane of Price Road will be blocked between Florence Avenue and Georgetown Road through Friday, May 17, to replace utility poles.
 
The right outbound lane of Winchester Road will be blocked between Dayton Avenue and Liberty Road through Friday, May 31, for utility work.
 
DeRoode Street will be CLOSED between Versailles Road and McKinley Street 24 hours a day through December 31, for work on the Newtown Pike extension project. Motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley.
 
MODERATE TRAFFIC IMPACT
One lane of Beaumont Centre Lane will be blocked as needed between Beaumont Centre Circle and Man O’ War Boulevard through Tuesday, May 14, for tree removal.
 
The sidewalk of Carlisle Avenue will be closed between Bryan Avenue and Oak Hill Drive through Saturday, June 1, for culvert work.
 
Clays Mill Road will be blocked between Cromwell Way and Merrimac Drive through Friday, May 17, for construction work. Inbound traffic will be diverted to the center lane.
 
The outbound bike lane of Euclid Avenue will be blocked between Woodland Avenue and Marquis Street through Friday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work.
 
One lane of Lincoln Avenue will be blocked at Richmond Road from Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, for utility work.
 
Lanes of Locust Avenue will be blocked as needed between Oak Hill Drive and Bryan Avenue through Friday, May 31, for utility work.
 
One lane of Maryland Avenue will be blocked at Jefferson Street from Tuesday, May 14, through Tuesday, May 21, for utility work.
 
The intersection of North Martin Luther King Boulevard and East Short Street will be blocked from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, for cable work. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.
 
NOTE: Citizens can call the Traffic Hotline through the city’s Traffic Management Center at 258-3611 to hear traffic updates or check local road conditions. The public can get information on accidents, lane blockages, snow and ice trouble spots and road closures through Twitter (@lexwrecks) or through the Crosstown Traffic Show.
