The event provided free refreshments including “cold turkey” sandwiches, s'mores and hot chocolate along with drawings for prizes, corn hole, music and information about quitting tobacco.
UK's tobacco-free initiative began Nov. 19, 2009 with the goal of making UK a healthier place to live, work and learn. The “Big Blue Tobacco-Free Tailgate” fell on the same day as the American Cancer Society's Annual Great Smoke Out, which encourages smokers to use the date to make a plan to kick the habit or to quit smoking on that day.
