PADUCAH, KY (7/23/12) – At approximately 2:45 AM on Sunday morning, the Lone Oak Fire Dept., Mercy Regional Ambulance and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Dept. were dispatched to the area of 339 South Friendship Road for a vehicle collision with injuries.
Two calls came into E911, one reporting a Gold Car and the other caller stated it was a motorcycle that had crashed.
When Deputy J. Harris arrived on scene he found a Blue 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle lying on its side just off the roadway and the operator, 34-year-old Ryan Weaver of Kevil, was running away on foot. Deputy Harris found Weaver behind a nearby residence. Weaver was treated on the scene and transported by ambulance to Baptist ER for non-life threatening injuries.
It was obvious from damage to the yard in this area that a car had also recently ran off the roadway, struck an earth embankment and tracks then led through the front yard and back onto the roadway.
This vehicle, a Gold 2002 Buick Century and driver, 34-year-old Dustin Russell of Wickliffe, were located on Limerick Drive a few minutes later. The vehicle damage, partial license plate, and matching description provided by the homeowner, confirmed this vehicle had wrecked just before the motorcycle collision.
Further investigation indicated both men knew each other and had just left from a local bar. Russell failed to negotiate the left curve and ran off the roadway then Weaver also ran off the roadway in the same location as he attempted to stop and check on his friend.
Both were charged with DUI 1st Offense and Leaving the Scene of An Accident.
Speed and Alcohol were the obvious factors in these collisions.
