june scobeePADUCAH, Ky. (4/3/13) – The Challenger Center at Paducah welcomes Dr. June Scobee Rodgers, educator, author and widow of the Challenger commander, to the campus of West Kentucky Community and Technical College on April 11.
 
While on campus, Dr. Rodgers will give a presentation, which is free and open to the public, in Crounse Hall 101 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
 
She will share about her life experiences, including her difficult childhood, her life with Dick Scobee and the Challenger accident.
 
Anyone interested in education is encouraged to attend the presentation. Dr. Rodgers will sign copies of her memoir "Silver Linings: My Life Before and After Challenger 7" following her presentation. Copies of the book will be for sale.
 
Educators who attend will be eligible to enter for a chance to win an iPad or a Skype session with a real NASA astronaut for their students.
 
On August 16, 2002, the Challenger Learning Center at Paducah opened as a partnership between Paducah Junior College, Inc. and WKCTC. The Paducah center is part of a network of 45 centers founded by the families of the astronauts tragically lost in the 1986 Challenger space shuttle accident. For the past ten years the center has provided STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education for over 75,000 people of all ages.
