MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (12/11/12) – On Thursday, December 12, at approximately 3:40 PM, Kentucky State Police, Muhlenberg EMS and the Graham Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of an accident with injuries near the 43 mile marker of WK Parkway.
Once on the scene, officials found that 22-year-old Rasheeda Mumford of Hopkinsville was traveling westbound on the parkway with two adult passengers and three children. Mumford informed officials that she had fallen asleep at the wheel just prior to the accident.
The vehicle exited the left shoulder of the highway and traveled across the median and struck a guardrail face of a bridge. The vehicle then reentered the parkway, at which time Mumford managed to regain control of the vehicle and pulled over in the westbound emergency lane.
Mumford was transported to Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. One passenger, a 2-year-old infant, did not appear to be injured but was transported to the Hospital as a precautionary measure.
Trooper Jerry Knight was assisted on the scene by Trooper Bob Winters, Muhlenberg County EMS and the Graham Fire Department.
