
GREENVILLE, Ky. (3/22/13) – A Muhlenberg County school bus overturned on its’ side on Thursday afternoon while transporting students home from Greenville Elementary School.
According to Muhlenberg School Superintendent Dale Todd, the accident took place around 3 p.m. on Kennedy Brasher Road.
Kentucky State Police officials have stated that the school bus driver was traveling southbound on Kennedy Brasher Road as Donald Garrett JR was operating a 2008 Chrysler Sebring northbound. As the two vehicles approached each other and Garrett drove into a ditch and stopped to avoid a collision with the school bus. The driver’s side of the school bus struck Garrett’s vehicle and continued out of control. The school bus exited the left shoulder of the roadway and overturned, coming to final rest on its right side.
All school bus passengers were transported to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital by the Muhlenberg County EMS for treatment of their injuries. Eddings was not injured. Garrett went to the hospital in a personal owned vehicle.
The car was being operated by 36-year-old Donald Garrett Jr., of Greenville.
"One student may have suffered a fractured wrist, but that student is still undergoing x-rays., so any further details as far as injuries are still not clear " Todd added.
The driver of the car was not hurt, and an official accident report from the Kentucky State Police is not yet available.
