MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (6/11/13) – Muhlenberg County Sheriff Deputies Sgt. Shannon Albro and Derrick Moore attended Rapid Deployment Training in Bowling Green on June 3-7.
The training was conducted by the Department of Criminal Justice Training.
First Responders in Muhlenberg County have worked diligently to develop a contingency plan in the event of a critical incident, such as an active shooter. Moore and Albro, both dayshift Deputies, attended the training as part of the department’s preparedness plans for response.
In addition to in-class training, officers were given the opportunity to practice tactical responses using hands-on training that involved simulated ammunition.
Both Moore and Albro say the training was cutting edge and eye opening; they also state that they are more confident in their ability to respond to a critical incident.
Sheriff Curtis McGehee says that this kind of training is essential for officers and departments due to the elevated risks that communities face in light of recent incidents.
