wayne hartMeteorologist Wayne HartCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (4/2/14) — Central City Fire Chief Rick King wants citizens to focus attention on the fact that April and May are historically periods of bad weather including tornadoes and floods.

To increase awareness, King told SurfKY News that veteran meteorologist Wayne Hart will make a special appearance 6 p.m., Thursday, April 10 at the Central City Convention Center. Hart will discuss what to do when bad weather strikes.

"This is the time of year when we can, unfortunately, expect severe weather and we want people to be aware of exactly what they need to do when it happens," King said. "We'll discuss the weather sirens, what to do when tornadoes occur, along with how to deal with other hazards like high water over highways and downed power lines and trees."

Hart is a veteran television weatherman in the area. He has been the Chief Meteorologist for WEHT for more than 20 years. Hart now serves as Chief Meteorologist for both WEHT Local and Local 7 WTVW Eyewitness Weather.

The class is free and open to the public at CCCC, 320 Golden Tide Avenue, Central City.
