OWENSBORO, Ky. (1/9/13) – On January 8, 2013, at approximately 6:10 p.m., patrol units with the Owensboro Police Department responded to a burglary call at the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 1221 Cedar Street.
Officers arrived and set up a perimeter around the church and were able to apprehend a male suspect, later identified as Donald Brown, as he exited the building. A second suspect remained inside, refusing to follow police commands to exit. A K-9 team was called to the scene. K-9 Artus was deployed and assisted in the apprehension of the second suspect, James Brown.
Brown was treated and released from Owensboro Medical Health System for minor bite injuries resulting from the K-9 apprehension.
A cell phone was located inside the church near where James Brown was hiding. An investigation revealed multiple sexually explicit pictures of apparent minors on the phone.
Both suspects are lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
