FRANKFORT, Ky. (1/14/13) – Approximately $345,000 in projects and services for the Pennyrile region were approved by the legislative Government Contract Review Committee today.
Rep. Brent Yonts, D- Greenville, a member and former chairman of the committee, said $250,000 will be used to pay operational costs at the Christian County Trilogy Center for Women, which helps women in drug and alcohol abuse recovery. The funding will come from federal sources.
“This is a very worthy program and a great use of funding,” said Yonts. “The center’s work is imperative to recovery efforts here in our area.”
In Muhlenberg County, coal severance funds were approved by the committee for painting, disinfecting and repairing of seven water tanks controlled by the Muhlenberg County Water District.
For Hopkins County, the committee approved $20,000 in coal severance funding including $10,000 for the Madisonville Community College for the School Counts Program and $5,000 each to the Manitou and St. Charles fire departments to pay debt on a pumper truck and for equipment and a new storage building respectively.
Rep. Brent Yonts represents the 15th House District which includes all of Muhlenberg County and portions of Christian and Hopkins counties.
