light chance 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (11/5l/13) - Light of Chance, Inc. will present the 7th Annual Aspire Weekend, November 15-17 in Madisonville, KY.

Aspire, A Weekend of Community Revitalization has had great success in past years with inspiring and motivating both youth and adults. As in previous years, the weekend will include Aspire's signature events, the Teen Summit and Gospel Explosion.

The Teen Summit will be held on Friday at Madisonville Community College from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The summit will include College Prep, Social & Cultural Diversity, Effective Leadership and Healthy Relationships workshops. Brian Early, founder of Think2Change, will serve as the keynote speaker for the day. The summit is open to students from Madisonville North Hopkins and Hopkins Country Central High Schools. Interested students should contact their principal or guidance counselor.

On Saturday evening, Light of Chance and the Destiny Theatre Experience will present Shawn Whitsell's original play, "The Color That Lies Between Us," which follows four couples on a rollercoaster journey through life, love and the complex issues that threaten to tear them apart.

"The play is a very honest look into the issues that affect relationships between men and women," says Whitsell. "Some of the nuances in these stories are specific to the African American community but overall, they are very universal themes."

Whitsell, who has been a part of various aspects of Aspire since it's first year, says he's especially excited about his collaboration with Light of Chance for the play.

"Like Light of Chance, my company the Destiny Theatre Experience is committed to making positive changes in the community so it is an honor for us to partner together," Whitsell says. "It will be an impactful weekend across the board."

The play will be held at Browning Springs Middle School's auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.

On Sunday, the Gospel Explosion will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 3 p.m. The non-denominational service will feature ministry from the Breathe Program and Designed by Grace Gospel Choir from University of Southern Indiana. The guest speaker for the afternoon will be Marvin E. Barner, Jr., Senior Pastor of the Mt. Olive Galilee Baptist Church in Evansville, IN.

The weekend will be filled with great information and entertainment aimed at making the community better.
