New Beginnings with Gayla - Clearing the Fog Series

NewBeginnings Gayla 06KENTUCKY (5/11/13) - This new series is inspired by a dream that I had one night. My dream consisted of seeing a pretty lady walking down a path in a beautiful white dress. As she was walking, mud started being thrown at her in all directions. Eventually, the mud completely covered her. When I woke up from this dream, my inner voice told me that the woman represented the beauty of her true self as she was walking peacefully along the path. The mud that was thrown on her represented all the negativity and false beliefs that came at her in life. As she stood there covered, she had allowed the mud (false belief) to saturate her beauty.

During the time in my life when I began my self-discovery journey, I took a good look at myself. At 33-years-old, I had lost sight of the happy, outgoing, fun loving person that I had been years prior. Why was I so different? I believe some of it was because I believed certain false beliefs about myself and life in general. I believed that I’d be happy when I got married, or when I made a certain amount of money, or when I had children. I believed that I would never be good enough for myself or anyone else. I believed that I was insignificant. At one time I was that lady in the beautiful dress, but as life happened, I started to allow the mud of false belief to saturate me.

Apparently, I was not alone in my thinking. According to wiki.answers.com, one in ten people are unhappy with their lives. There are many, many people with low self-esteem. Sometimes, when we are not happy with ourselves and our lives, we can lash out at others in an attempt to make them miserable.

During the next three articles, I want to discuss three false beliefs that are flung at us from society that cover up our true selves. The first one is the belief of “I’ll be happy when…” The second one is the belief that we as people are different from one another. The last one is the false beliefs about oneself.

It seems that sometimes we go through life in a fog. Things are unclear and we are not able to see things for what they really are. My intent for these articles is to clear the fog of false belief, and to help uncover some of the lies that you may have come to believe as truth. So you can come closer to being the real you. I am excited about these articles!

To better prepare yourself for this series, I want to leave you with some questions for self-reflection. Think about this:

Has life been a disappointment for you?

Have the trials of life left you discouraged?

Do you believe the negative things that have been spoken about you?
