Three Men Injured in One-Vehicle Accident in Ohio County

traf acc w inj300OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (7/4/13) – Three men traveling as part of a military convoy along the Western Kentucky Parkway on Wednesday were injured, one seriously, in a rollover crash when the vehicle they were riding in apparently sustained a “tire malfunction” which caused it to run off the road.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 16 in Henderson, Andrew Bechtle, 26, was driving the vehicle east with the convoy. The tire malfunction caused him to lose control of the vehicle and enter the median. He continued into the westbound lane and overturned. The vehicle came to final rest on its driver’s side, trapping Bechtle, authorities said.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Bedijoel Bley, 34, and Nathan Pearson, 23, were taken to Owensboro Regional Health for treatment of their injuries. Bechtle had to be removed by mechanical means. He was taken by PHI Helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Ind., for treatment of life threatening injuries.
