ballot boxLEXINGTON, Ky. (3/4/14) — Business owner Hal Heiner announced today that he is seeking the Republican nomination for Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2015.

Heiner further announced that he has selected KC Crosbie of Lexington to be his running mate and candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

“Kentucky is at a crossroads, in desperate need of strong leadership and innovative thinking,” remarked Heiner. “With my running mate K.C. Crosbie, I am convinced that we can bring actual leadership to Frankfort for the first time in a long time.”

“This will be a campaign about big ideas and lofty goals.” — Heiner.

“It will be about putting Kentucky first. If we bring innovation and a change of culture to Frankfort, I know for certain that we can make Kentucky economically competitive, create jobs, and make our education system the envy of the nation. I believe that when we unlock Kentucky’s vast potential, our state can be an economic powerhouse. With new leadership, Kentucky can be a modern day success story, with a thriving economy where Kentuckians have easy access to good paying jobs, are well educated, are healthy and enjoy a higher standard of living.”

“Today begins a year long journey across Kentucky,” concluded Heiner. “For the next year, we will be travelling all across the state, spending weeks at a time in communities big and small, listening to Kentuckians, learning from their perspectives, and sharing with them our vision for a brighter, hopeful Kentucky future.”

“I am excited to be running on a ticket that is so rooted in the idea that new leadership, with a fresh perspective, can actually change our state for the better,” remarked Crosbie. “Today we are embarking on a journey that is filled with hope and optimism, grounded in the firm belief that all of us, working together, can make positive changes in people’s lives.”

Heiner and Crosbie made their announcement at rallies held today in Lexington and Louisville.

Over the next two days, Heiner and Crosbie will travel to Bowling Green, Covington, Hazard, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Owensboro and Paducah to conduct campaign events and meet with local media members.

Heiner is a longtime Kentuckian and graduate of Atherton High School. In 1997, Heiner founded Capstone Realty, which has developed nearly 5 million square feet of new industrial and office buildings that helped bring and keep more than 4,000 jobs to Kentucky in the process. He was elected to the Louisville Metro Council in 2002, and served until 2010. Hal has been married to Sheila Heiner for 36 years and they are parents of four children. Hal has been involved in numerous charities and educational organizations including serving as Chairman of the Kentucky Charter Schools Association and Christian Academy of Louisville. Hal and Sheila live on a corn and soybean farm and are active members of Southeast Christian Church.

KC Crosbie graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky in May of 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. After graduation, she immediately started working for a Fortune 50 company specializing in healthcare. In 2013, KC established a Kentucky company focused on the distribution and sales of specialized medical and therapeutic products.

KC was elected to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government City Council in 2006 where she served three consecutive terms. KC currently serves as the Finance Chair for the Republican Party of Kentucky, and as the RNC's National Committee woman from Kentucky. In her community life, KC has been active on various non-profit boards including the American Heart Association, Junior League and National UK Alumni Association. She is married to Scott Crosbie and they have two daughters, Kirby, age 15, and Cate, age 12, along with a son, Mac, age 10. KC and her family attend Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington.
