Governor Beshear Directs Flags to Half-staff in Honor of Victims of Explosions at Boston Marathon

half staff 300FRANKFORT, Ky. (4/16/13) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset Saturday, April 20, as a mark of respect for the victims of explosions at Monday’s Boston Marathon.

Gov. Beshear spoke to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick today and offered his condolences and support.

"Our hearts break for the individuals and families affected by this senseless tragedy in Boston,” said Gov. Beshear. “We send our thoughts and prayers to the citizens of Boston. We salute the efforts of the first responders to this man-made emergency, and we stand in support of those who are already working to track down the party or parties responsible for this horrific act.”

Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.

Flag status information is available at http://governor.ky.gov/Pages/flagstatus.aspx.
