HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/7/14) — Two Hopkins County men were charged for receiving stolen property after an investigation by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office CSX Railroad property.
According to a Hopkins County Sheriff's report, Officer Ron Latham of the Madisonville Police Department arrested Robert Cannon, 20, and David Cunningham, 39, following a traffic stop.
Warrants had been issued for Cannon and Cunningham for receiving stolen property.
CSX Railroad Police Special Agent Nate Jazyk reported that a large number of railroad tie plates had been stolen from a construction area off Mannington Loop between the dates of Feb. 11 through Feb. 18.
It was discovered that Cannon and Cunningham had allegedly sold the stolen railroad tie plates to Arrow Salvage for scrap metal.
All of the tie plates were recovered and returned to CSX.The value of the stolen plates is more than $3,000, according to the report.
