Winners of the Child Abuse Prevention Poster/Poem Contest announced

prevent child abuse 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (4/15/13) – Student winners of the Child Abuse Prevention Poster and Poem Contest have been announced by The Christian County Council on Child Abuse and Neglect.
 
In February, The Christian County Council on Child Abuse and Neglect announced it would be sponsoring the poster and poem contest in April, which is National Child Abuse and Prevention Month. This year’s theme for the contest was “Stand Up for Children, There’s No Excuse for Child Abuse.”
 
Students were asked to implement facts, feelings and ideas about preventing child abuse into their artwork. Family Resource and Youth Service Centers across the district then collected their school’s top five posters and poems and top entries were taken to the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center for judging.
 
Winners of the contest and their families have been invited to the Christian County Prevents Child Abuse Candlelight Vigil on Tuesday, April 16 at North Drive Middle School. Students will receive recognition and awards at this event.

 2nd place- Maliq Crosby, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary
 3rd place- Gracey Dukes, Crofton Elementary
 
Grades 4 & 5 1st place- Chandler Neighbors, Sinking Fork Elementary
 2nd place- Lillian Langston, Pembroke Elementary
 3rd place- Destiny Holt, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary
 
Grades 6,7,8 1st place- Elizabeth Poe, Hopkinsville Middle
 2nd place- Michelle Sydnor, Hopkinsville Middle
 3rd place- Elizabeth Poe, Hopkinsville Middle
 3rd place- Julia Pennington, Hopkinsville Middle
 3rd place- Rachel Vance, Hopkinsville Middle
 
Grades 9,10,11, 12 1st place- Brooklyn Moore, Hopkinsville High
 2nd place- Bailey Downs, Hopkinsville High
 3rd place- Amber Duvall, Hopkinsville High
