asphalt1 kytrans 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/16/13) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has scheduled a public meeting for Thursday, April 18th to discuss the widening of US 62/East Arcadia Street in Dawson Springs.

KYTC engineers and consultants will be available from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., CDT, on Thursday at the Dawson Springs High School Multi-Purpose Room to share preliminary design plans and get feedback on the project that runs along US 62 between about Sycamore Street and Parkwood Drive in Dawson Springs.

“This will be an informal meeting,” said KYTC District 2 Chief Engineer Kevin McClearn. “We urge anyone with an interest in this project to come by between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., to review the displays and provide feedback to help us move the project forward.”

Plans call for widening US 62/Arcadia Avenue to include a middle turn lane to improve safety and traffic flow. The project includes sidewalks.

A handout and comment sheet/questionnaire will be provided for those who attend. Displays illustrating the range of alignments and alternative scenarios studied for reconstruction of this section of US 62 will be available. During the meeting, individuals will have the opportunity to discuss the project with design staff working on the project.

For anyone who is unable to attend the public meeting, displays and other materials presented at the public meeting will be available for review at the KYTC District 2 Office, 1840 North Main Street, Madisonville, KY 42431, for two weeks. Comments may be submitted in writing to that address before May 3, 2013. Office Hours for the Department of Highways District 2 Office are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. local time.

The public information meeting will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m., CDT, in the multipurpose room at the Dawson Springs High School, at 317 Eli Street, Dawson Springs, KY.
