Board of Education General 05 300POWDERLY, Ky. (6/11/13) – On Monday, June 10th, 2013, The Muhlenberg County Board of Education approved Ronald H. Fentress, of Lawrenceburg, as the interim superintendent, replacing outgoing superintendent Dale Todd, effective July 1st.
 
Fentress was not present at the Monday meeting, but did speak to the board during a special called meeting on Thursday, June 6th, 2013.
 
As reported last week by SurfKY News, Fentress has served as interim superintendent at a long list of Kentucky school systems, including Laurel County, Pendleton County, along with Eminence Independent Schools, and county school systems in Washington, Mercer and Floyd Counties.
The vote was unanimous.
 
Other items discussed by the board included the possible hiring of a District Security Technician, the adding of more video cameras in schools, changing of keys and locks, and looking at other options. The issue has been one of increased concern in the county after a school year that included at least four bomb threats at four different schools. The item was tabled for future action.
 
There was also discussion as to delays in the Mustang Stadium project. Board member Tartar noted he "was not happy with this"... an opinion echoed by other board members. It was noted that the construction project delays "have cost us a season".
