pickin-2Pickers young and old enjoy the monthly Four Legends Jamboree in Drakesboro

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (9/4/14) — There's plenty of guitar picking in Muhlenberg County for the next three weekends.

Best of all, it's all free.

According to Joe Hudson, Executive Director of the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame, the Pickin' in the Park series will continue at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the Merle Travis Music Center in Powderly.

"The event is free and open to the public," Hudson said. "Featured performers will include Al Hudson and Friends."

There's more picking and grinning set for Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Four Legends Jamboree in Drakesboro. This event is held monthly on the second Saturday of each month at the Drakesboro Community Center. It is free and spotlights pickers from throughout Kentucky and surrounding states. There will be an open jam session from 6 to 9 p.m. All are invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy the show, along with a potluck dinner.

The final Pickin' in the Park concert for this season will be held on Sept. 19 at the Merle Travis Music Center, featuring Paul Moseley and Deena Ashley Baumgart.

"Anyone who needs information, directions or details on either event can contact me at ntphf.com," Hudson said.
