LABORDAY holiday 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/28/13) – City Hall and Owensboro Transit System will be closed for the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, Sept. 2. In addition, the sanitation collection schedule will be modified for all residential and commercial customers. There will be no trash collection on Monday, Sept. 2. All routes will be delayed one day with Friday routes being collected on Saturday, Sept. 7.

For continued quality service and low rates, please have carts out by 6:00 AM with lids closed and all trash contained within the cart, do not block carts with cars, mailboxes or other carts. Please be sure that cart lids open towards the street.

Holidays often mean extra trash, so we recommend recycling as a way to free up space in your mobile trash cart. The recycling center is located at 1401 W. 7th Street, adjacent to James Mason Park, and will be open throughout the holiday week to accept cardboard, newspaper, aluminum cans, steel cans, magazines and mixed plastics (1-6) with no item larger than a five-gallon bucket.
