rooster booster 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/5/13) - The September Rooster Booster meeting for the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce was held today with approximately 350 in attendance as Congressman Brett Guthrie spoke about the state of the nation and what that means to the city of Owensboro.

The Republican Congressman discussed the state of Syria, and explained why he thought we, as a nation, shouldn’t be involved. He said that unless he received classified information on the subject to change his mind, he wouldn’t support the initiative.

The congressman also named Waitman Taylor and Kirk Kirkpatrick as part of the Congressional Record for their work for the city of Owensboro. If you missed the chance to speak with Guthrie this morning and would like to, he will be hosting a meet-and-greet session after the Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting today at 5 p.m.

Brescia University was recognized as sponsor of the September Rooster Booster and school officials announced that attendance is up once again for the 2013-2014 school year. It was also announced that Jim DeMaio and Belinda Abell are September’s Ambassadors of the Month. Both of the members of the chamber have won several times in the past, and won this month, because they attended the most chamber events in August.

The next Rooster Booster meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 a.m.
