OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/16/13) - 54 Pizza Express celebrated the expansion of its Starlite Dr. location this afternoon with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Owner and Operator Cindy Tong said she decided to expand the Starlite Dr. location in February to better service her customers.

"The customers are the reason I continue to be in business, but they are also the reason I decided to expand," Tong said. "I wanted to meet their needs."

Tong gives credit to her loyal customers for not only purchasing the product, but also for offering their feedback over the years. The original 54 Pizza Express was opened in 1988 right off of Hwy. 54. That location recently underwent an expansion as well. And, the same principles Tong built her business on 25 years ago remain consistent today.

"We believe in quality ingredients," Tong said. There is no substitute for quality or quality service."

Tong told SurfKY News her business has been a way to express her love through cooking, but it would not operate successfully without the help of her 20 member staff.

"They are the ones who are taking care of the customers and and they are the ones preparing the food," Tong said.

Tong is so proud of her employees, she believes the next generation of 54 Pizza Express will be in the hands of current managers and staff.
"I am working to make it a business they want to have," Tong said.

54 Pizza Express is located at 3101 Alvey Park Dr. and 1700 Starlite Dr. Customers may also order online at http://www.54pizzaexpress.com/
