Owensboro Seal 01 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/2/13) - An ordinance levying taxes for municipal purposes for the fiscal year 2013-2014 was approved on Tuesday at the Owensboro Board of Commissioners meeting. The rate of 25.93 cents per $100 for real property, 27.13 cents per $100 of personal property, and 30.30 cents per $100 of vehicle property was approved.

An ordinance giving a grant award for Transit was also approved. The budget amendment would award budget funds for a marina feasibility study and would roll over remaining capital projects.

A first reading to consider a municipal order designating the office of city clerk as the record officer and official liaison to the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives was read. The Office of City Clerk is expected to maintain and protect permanent city records and perform the duties of the "official custodian." The order will be voted upon at the next meeting.

The following personnel appointments were approved:

Tammy L. Rhodes, was appointed to the position of Public Works Bus Driver with the Owensboro Transit System.

Michael L. Royal, was appointed to the position of Public Works Bus Driver with the Owensboro Transit System.

Rory K. Burnette, was appointed to the position of Public Works Laborer/Maintenance Helper with Public Works Operations.

Jeremy S. Mulligan, was appointed to the position of Police Sergeant with the Police Department.

Joseph W. Welsh, was appointed to the position of Building Maintenance/Operations Specialist with Public Works Operations.

The next Owensboro Board of Commissioners meeting is a work session scheduled for Tuesday, October 8 at noon.
