Kentucky Wesleyan College to Host Scholarship Weekend and Spring Open House

ky wesOWENSBORO, Ky. (2/20/14) – Kentucky Wesleyan College is set to host over 70 students who will be competing for the Brown-Heritage Scholarship and STEM Scholarship this Saturday.

Both scholarships are invitation-only.

The Brown-Heritage scholarship offers awards that range up to full tuition renewable for four years to incoming freshman.

The STEM scholarship offers awards up to $6,000 per year to incoming freshman and transfer students. Freshman-only interviews will be conducted for the STEM scholarship on Saturday. The deadline for college transfer students to apply is April 11.

“We are looking forward to welcoming these students and their families to campus,” said Director of Admissions, Rashad Smith. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication each has done to be a part of these competitions,” he added.

For students currently exploring their college options, Kentucky Wesleyan College will host a Spring Open House the following weekend on Saturday, March 1. This opportunity for students to experience college life first-hand will begin at 8:30 a.m. Central Time in the Winchester Community Center with the program set to begin at 9:00 a.m.

From Accounting to Zoology, students can meet with KWC Faculty to explore the nearly 40 academic majors and pre-professional programs available they might pursue.

The Open House will also include tours of the campus and opportunities for students and their families to get information on the 4-Year Graduation Guarantee, the 3-Year Degree Option, and financial aid and scholarships, including the new Academic Achievement Award.

Presentations on student life and college athletics, lunch for students and their families on campus, and optional tours of Owensboro will also be part of the scheduled events.

“We realize now is a key time when students’ are seriously exploring their college options and are excited to showcase the wonderful opportunities Kentucky Wesleyan has to offer,” said Smith. “For those who are still deciding for Fall 2014, KWC has a rolling admissions deadline, so we are still accepting applications,” he added.

High school students and college transfer students are invited to attend the Open House and may register online at www.kwc.edu/visit or by calling the KWC Admissions Office at (270) 852-3120. Walk-ins for the Open House are also welcome.
