flag1 300WASHINGTON, D.C. (9/17/13) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) has released the following statement on the tragic events occurring today at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

“My heart goes out to all of those affected by the horrible tragedy that has unfolded at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. It’s painful to think that the brave men and women of our Armed Forces tasked with going overseas to keep our country safe would be subjected to such a horrible tragedy here at home. I have every confidence that our law enforcement officials will bring all of those involved with this cowardly act to justice. I encourage all Kentuckians to join with me in keeping those affected by today’s events in your thoughts and prayers. “
