friday after1 5 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/26/13) – Owensboro’s signature summer-long, free music festival will feature 50 bands, a brand new stage and grows to include all of the resort-quality Smothers Park on the Owensboro Riverfront.
 
“It’s the best of our past seventeen seasons rolled into one,” said Brandon Gentry, this year’s 2013 chair. “We’re producing five venues of entertainment every Friday for 16 consecutive weeks filled with music, art, the spray park, the magic of the Lazy Dayz playground, costume characters and special themes each week and it’s all free.”
 
2013 Season Highlights include:
•More than 50 bands booked.
•The Kroger Street Fair will extend throughout all of Smothers Park.
•New venue, the “Overlook Stage,” sponsored by Don Moore added.
•The Courtyard entertainment line-up is sensational and is again sponsored by UniFirst.
•Glenn Family Services will again sponsor six “Gospel on the River” series concerts in
•Cannon Hall, each featuring three wonderful gospel groups.
•Have a Nice Day will again provide our “Friday After 5 Foto Booth” all season.
•The CVB recently approved a $2,000 grant that will increase our $4,000 regional
•billboard campaign by 50%.
•The weekly sponsors are bringing the best bands ever to the patio stage.
 
The season begins May 17 and continues through August 30th, Labor Day weekend.
 
“The new Overlook Stage is at the foot of Frederica and we will showcase local talent all season,” explains Executive Director, Kirk Kirkpatrick. “All events are free.”
