In a statement issued by the NCL, the All-America City award, started in 1949, has been presented to “more than 650 communities for addressing local challenges with innovative, grassroots strategies that promote civic engagement and cooperation between the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.”

Over the past weekend (June 14-16), civic leaders and community volunteers attended the three day NCL conference in Denver, where those in contention for one of the 10 awards also had the opportunity to make their case for why their city should be one of the chosen.
