Give a Hand, Pay It Forward Hopes to Bring Out the Humanitarian in the People of Owensboro

smith wright 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/19/13) --The Give a Hand, Pay it Forward campaign is a national humanitarian campaign in its second year in Owensboro, and the Owensboro City Commission hopes that more people will participate this year.

“I want the citizens of Owensboro to be more in tune with others, and do something for someone without expecting anything in return,” said City Commissioner Pam Smith-Wright.

The project will have cards that will be available at City Hall that will read, “I’ve done something good for someone, all I ask is for you to pay it forward”. When you do a good deed for someone you hand the card off in hopes that the next person will also do a good deed.

Smith-Wright says good deeds can be anything from cutting a neighbor’s grass to paying for someone in line at a drive-thru.

“It’s a good feeling kind of thing,” Smith-Wright said.

The city would like to keep track of the nice things that its citizens are doing. Participants can contact Commissioner Smith-Wright at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Give a Hand, Pay it Forward cards can be picked up at the reception desk at Owensboro City Hall between Augest the fifth and 19th.
