OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/24/13) - Only got $20 in your pocket? New Life Church’s Thrift Shop has you covered.

New Life opened its doors, Tuesday, July 9, to the Owensboro area with its affordable clothing, accessories, home furnishings, and more. Todd Camp, Pastor of New Life Church, and his wife, Sandy, manage the thrift shop located across the street from the church on the corner of W 4th and Crabtree Ave.

“It’s low cost and quality for our neighbors and Owensboro locals,” Todd Camp said.

The proceeds for the thrift shop support New Life Church’s ministry. The ministry includes a food pantry, soup kitchen, and soon, an emergency shelter for women.

Camp said he hopes that the store will provide future employment to the neighborhood, as well as retail job training. Volunteers are always welcome for sorting and stocking items, Camp added. Volunteers are often a diverse group of people including the recently retired and also court-ordered volunteers.

Buying customers are important to the business, but donors are what keep the business afloat, said Camp.

“We are always in need of donations,” Camp said.

New Life Thrift has had a steady flow of customers since its grand opening two weeks ago.

“We are pleased with the results so far,” Camp said.
