A beautiful, new Hospital, exciting improvements Downtown, anticipation of more good things to come – we are blessed in so many ways. Count among those many blessings, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra (OSO) – excellent music, the best regional musicians who perform in an acoustically excellent hall. All the requirements for great entertainment are served up in our own back yard.

You may not know the OSO is recognized nationally for its sound fiscal condition. In a time when orchestras across the nation struggle to make ends meet, your orchestra remains stable. The credit for that goes to the many patrons, the generosity of our elected officials, and local businesses that contribute to success. The OSO is in a great position to present quality musical performances into the foreseeable future.

We know that the arts are a potent force in the economic life in cities across the nation with thriving cultural life generates income, jobs and tax revenue. The cultural life of a region is a principal determinant of quality of life, which is widely recognized as an important factor in location decision making for new economic development. Cultural activities attract tourists and spur the creation of ancillary facilities such as restaurants and hotels.
