Confidence Growing in the Lady Panthers

basketball surfky 300OWENSBORO, Ky, (11/27/13) - Head Girl's Basketball Coach Natalie Powers is entering her second year with Daviess County and she looks to build off of last season where the Panthers finished, 12-17 with a tough loss against Owensboro Catholic in the first round of district.

The returning Lady Panthers now have another year under the leadership of Powers.

"We are starting to see more confidence in our players, especially when shooting from outside," Coach Powers said. "Finally we are starting to see the players retain some information they learned last year and we look to build on that foundation."

Coach Powers understands that her team may lack in size, but she wants to use the Panthers' quickness to increase the pressure on defense.

"I want our girls to play hard nose and pressure defense," Powers said.

"We have to be scrappy if we are going to win."

Daviess County will have three returning seniors this year: Jessica Holland, Rachel Holland, and Lexie Jones. The players will have to be a cornerstone to the Lady Panthers rebuilding.

Daviess County will open the season at home on Dec. 2 against Breckinridge County.
