God’s Great Outdoor Adventures – Wild Animals are not Pets

deer baby mommy 300KENTUCKY (5/23/13) – Hello again folks! I hope you are having a blessed day. Spring is truly here. Everyone knows the old saying, April showers bring May flowers.
 
Spring is a time of new life all over God’s beautiful outdoors. Wildflowers are blooming, baby birds are hatching, fish are spawning and there are cute little baby wild critters running everywhere. With this in mind, we must remember that, no matter how cute they are, they are still wild animals. They will never make good pets.
 
Most people don’t realize it, but it is against the law to capture a wild animal and keep it as a pet. One of the cutest animals you can find this time of year is a baby deer. People pick them up all the time, thinking that their mother has abandoned them or gotten hit by a car. The truth is that a mother deer will bed her fawn deep in the brush and go off to feed, and then return for her little one.
 
Never touch a wild animal, as your scent remains on its’ flesh and fur, and chances are that the mother will not take it back.
 
If you are a hunter, but you enjoy hiking, you should read the hunting and fishing guides. The guides explain all the laws about wild animals. If you do find an injured orphan animal, contact the local fish and wildlife. From there, they will contact a rehab center to come out and pick up the animal, and take care of it until it is ready to be released.
 
Next time you see a cute baby deer, or a rabbit, please leave them alone. It is for their best interest.
