KENTUCKY (3/9/14) — This week SurfKY News introduces its three-part series exploring the 2014 Farm Bill.
The important, controversial, often heated nearly $1 trillion 2014 Farm Bill was enacted on Feb. 7.
President Obama likened the farm bill to "...a Swiss Army knife.
A little over a month has passed since the bill was enacted, and while some are disappointed with the outcome of the final bill, there are pockets of hope.
It is these opportunities that SurfKY will explore in the next few weeks.
As a part of the Farm Bill, National Resources Conservation Services offers voluntary programs for American farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners that streamline and consolidate conservation programs.
How does that affect Kentuckians?
Each Sunday SurfKY will dig in to explore the current 2014 Farm Bill programs offered.
- Sunday March 16, SurfKY will uncover the financial and technical assistance programs available.
- Sunday March 23, SurfKY will the tackle the easement programs.
- Sunday March 30, SurfKY will examine the partnership programs that benefit both agricultural producers and the environment.
