Two Police Officers Stabbed in Henderson

stabbing hattaHENDERSON, Ky. (3/6/13) – On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, two police officers were treated for stabbing-related injuries at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
 
According to Henderson Police officials, officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 961 Village Brook Drive regarding a welfare check. While speaking with 28-year-old Jon Hattabaugh regarding a violation of a foreign Emergency Protective Order (issued by another state), officers realized that Hattabaugh needed medical treatment.
 
When the officers attempted to help Hattabaugh, he began to fight them. All three men fell to the ground at which time Hattabaugh stabbed Officer Daniel Burden and Officer Robert Gipson.
 
Hattabaugh was taken into custody and lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center for Assault 2nd - 2 counts, Harassment - Physical Contact, and Violation of a Foreign EPO.
 
Officers Burden and Gipson were treated and released at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
