breakingnews surfky 300aUPDATEGREENVILLE, Ky. (8/30/13) – Three Muhlenberg North Middle School football coaches have resigned after concerns arose about an incident on the players' bus after a game Tuesday night.

According to Muhlenberg County Schools Interim Superintendent Sonny Fentress, no students were touched and the incident revolved around the coaches using poor choices of words.

"Everyone makes mistakes," said Fentress. "The coaches used bad language in front of the students and we can't have that around our students."

Fentress said the coaches, which he would not name without an open records request from SurfKY News, met with Muhlenberg North Middle School Principal Steve Sparks Thursday and tendered their resignations from the MNMS football program.

Fentress said Friday morning that he has officially accepted the resignations.

He did confirm that two of the coaches are paid school system employees and that the third is a volunteer only.

In the interim, coaches from the Muhlenberg County High School Mustangs Football program will be helping MNMS football players in their remaining games, said Fentress.

The MNMS football team was returning from a game against McLean County Middle School when the incident occurred.

An open records request has been sent to Fentress and updates to this story will follow on SurfKY News.
