Business Spotlight: Larry Sparks Incorporated

sparksbusinessspotlightGREENVILLE, Ky. (2/24/14) – Since 1964, Larry Sparks Incorporated has offered the region quality, like-new cars, trucks and more.

"We've probably sold nearly 10,000 cars in a 40 year period," Sparks said.

But when they say "more", according to Larry Sparks' son, Nick, there is a lot more to be found at 515 North Main in Greenville than reliable vehicles.

He noted that his father's baseball skill brought interest from major league scouts.

But in the end, the Sparks family made their mark hitting home runs in a number of other areas.

"Gold coins and jewelry, silver, antique guns, pocket knives. You name it, we've probably sold it, traded it, or appraised it over the years," Sparks said. "Back in the 70s we had several customers who chose to trade antique firearms for vehicles."

Sparks noted that a lady came in about a year ago and mentioned that she had over $5000 in gold.

"We traded for a car. That's the good thing about being an independent dealer. We try to work with people to find ways to make things work for everyone involved," Sparks said.

Sparks then pulled out a Patton Manning signed jersey and a signed Stan Musial baseball card, and other rare sports memorabilia.

"Sports memorabilia is more of a hobby, but you can (offer these for sale) online, and you never know," Sparks said.

Sparks noted that one of their dealership's secrets to keeping the vehicles rolling off the lot, is to use highly trained body repairmen.

"This is a 2003 Acura, with just a slight amount of damage, nothing mechanical. We take it and make it look like new and are able to sell for less. Our highly trained repair staff are one reason we have been so successful," Sparks said.

So whether you're looking for a car, want to buy or sell gold, silver, pre 1980 firearms, pre-1970 vintage toys , and gold or silver pocket watches, Larry Sparks, Incorporated offers value, reliability and best of all, flexibility.

Maybe that's one great reason, as Sparks noted, they are expanding their lot to cover even more of the area along the strip of North Main in Greenville.
