Muhlenberg Job Corps Center - Above and Beyond Employee

JAustin AboveNBeyond 32014Muhlenberg Jobs Corp Ashley Knight, HR Manager with Above and Beyond Employee John Austin, Heavy Equipment Operator InstructorMUHLENBERG, Ky. (3/20/14) – The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center recently recognized John Austin as the quarterly Above and Beyond Outstanding Employee.

Austin began his employment at the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center May 18, 2009.

Austin received this award because he was chosen to lead a selected team of nine students through an accelerated Heavy Equipment Operators Course that was targeted to complete when the Center needed significant completions to meet Outcome Measurement System goals. Through John’s leadership, this team quickly became a fine tuned unit to the degree that Austin became more of a foreman than an instructor.

The training accomplishment is significant, above & beyond due to the impact these students will have on center statistics.

Four of the students in this group have been approved for Advanced Training and three will be walking into jobs that will be direct center job training matches.

Austin’s commitment to excellence played a key part in exceeding the course expectations.

Austin provided additional one-on-one instruction outside the normal hours of training to ensure struggling students met and surpassed the established standard so all nine would complete the course.

In addition to the course learning, this team’s performance during the winter months was instrumental in clearing the centers roadways, parking lots and sidewalks of snow and ice.

Several staff noted the work ethics and performance of that seen on real job sites. This group of students behavior was noted as positive throughout this course and all were looked up to and earned the respect of their peers.

The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center and Horizons Youth Services is proud to recognize John Austin, whose performance is consistently Above and Beyond the expectations of his position.
