connect grad 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/12/13) – Customers who sign up for ConnectGRADD rural Internet service during the month of April will receive free installation—a savings of $199.95.

Monthly pricing for residential packages ranges between $29.95 and $59.95, depending on the download/upload speed selected.

“This is the first time we have discounted installation fees,” said Joey Randolph, sales and marketing director for Q-Wireless, the Internet service provider for ConnectGRADD. “We hope many new customers will take advantage of this opportunity.”

The ConnectGRADD, Inc. regional broadband initiative—one of the first of its kind in the nation—was launched in 2007.

It represents a unique partnership between Q-Wireless, GRADD, and the region’s seven county fiscal courts (Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster) to provide affordable, high-speed Internet access to rural residents.

ConnectGRADD was funded through a Local Government Economic Development Fund (LGEDF) Coal Severance grant, a Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) low-interest loan, and Delta Regional Authority (DRA) grants.

The original project scope provided for 28 transmission towers; however, that number has been expanded to include 58 towers today, with still more planned. Currently, there are more than 3,400 customers receiving ConnectGRADD service.

Recent tower upgrades have increased available download speeds to 6 Mbps in parts of Daviess, McLean, Ohio and Webster counties.
