MARYKAY MESSEROWENSBORO, Ky. (8/29/13) – The name “Mary Kay Cosmetics” typically conjures up images of women’s perfume and make-up, but as one local salesperson has demonstrated, the successful fragrance line offers men’s products as well.

Cayce Messer, who has worked as a Mary Kay representative for almost 10 years, focuses on men’s products and tries to “work with them more than women’s” lines.

Messer said she normally carries a few different fragrances that represent the more popular options in the men’s line of fragrances, including “Tribute,” “Velocity,” “High Intensity,” and “Domain,” among others.

“My personal favorites are ‘Velocity’ and ‘True Original,’” Messer said. “They’re really clean smelling, kind of crisp.”

Messer said most of her sales of men’s fragrances and body washes are “through the wives” at Mary Kay parties. The parties are the favorite part of her job, especially if it affords the opportunity to recruit new salespeople. She said she “likes getting to choose how many she mentors” and “helping them set their goals.

So what’s her advice for new reps?

“Go for it,” she said. “You never know if you’re going to be good at something unless you try it.”
