OHS Band and Orchestra Concert to Honor Retiring Orchestra Director

music events 02 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (12/10/13) - Owensboro High School Orchestra and Band groups will be combining holiday favorites with traditional music 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 in the OHS Auditorium. The evening will include performances by the String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble. It will be the last orchestra concert under the direction of Greg Olson, who is retiring at the end of December.

The OHS Band is sponsoring a reception following the concert in honor of Mr. Olson. Former students and the community are invited to attend and show their appreciation for Mr. Olson’s 28-year career in Owensboro Public Schools. His lifetime of dedication to the district and music throughout the community will be recognized.

“Mr. Olson is an outstanding example of a music teacher--passionate about his art, caring for his students and committed to giving his best every day to every child,“ said Tom Stites, OPS Coor-dinator of Fine Arts. “We look forward to his continued work in Owensboro as Education Direc-tor for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Whatever Mr. Olson does, we know it will be done at the highest possible level.”
