Bluegrass on the Banks: 7-9 p.m., May 6 at Smothers Park Overlook Stage, Veterans Boulevard.
The city of Owensboro is brings back Bluegrass On The Banks, showcasing bluegrass music on the first and third Tuesday of each month through early October. Admission is free.

Downtown Date Night: 6-10 p.m., May 8, Downtown Owensboro.
Start your weekend early by heading to Downtown Owensboro for free live music and events. Visit one of our great downtown restaurants for dinner and then enjoy the riverfront.

“The Nerd” 7:30 p.m. (Fri-Sat) 2 p.m. (Sun), May 9-10, 16-18 at Theatre Workshop of Owensboro, 407 W. 5th Street.

Better Your Backyard EXPO: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 9; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 10; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11.

International BBQ Festival: All day May 9-10 in Downtown Owensboro.
On the second weekend in May, the Owensboro riverfront becomes a hub of activity when cooking teams gather to compete with their secret recipes for barbecue. These teams are vying for best chicken, mutton and burgoo titles, as well as the Governor's Cup for the "Best Overall BBQ Cooking Team." All total, more than 80,000 people will attend the festival with more than 10 tons of mutton, 1,500 gallons of burgoo and 5,000 chickens prepared and sold during the festival. Musical entertainment, children's activities, car show, arts and crafts and more are available for the crowd's enjoyment. International BBQ Festival Car Show: All day, May 9-10 at Owensboro Convention Center, 501 W. 2nd Street.
Now a two-day event. Car Show on Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, 2014. Friday evening Cruise-In from 5 - 9 pm at no-charge. Awards for the Car Show presented Saturday at 4 pm. 29th Annual Golf Classic: All day, May 16 at Owensboro Country Club, 400 E. Byers Avenue.
The Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club Annual Golf Classic will take place at the Owensboro Country Club. Proceeds will benefit programming at the Mike Horn Unit and the C.
